Stage 07
Start: Montevecchio

Through the ancient path of the miners, you will descend from the metalliferous hills of the Guspinese-Arburese area down to the Campidano plain, where you will see basalt flows deriving from Tertiary volcanism thanks to the spectacular geological site of the basalt columns, and then climb the hill by walking on granite rocks to reach the town of Arbus.
The typical landscape of agricultural and livestock activities. Then you enter the Linas mountain range with its large forests and rich variety of mineral deposits.

A short stage leading to the Campidano plain, where we encounter the typical landscape of farming and livestock activities, characterized by olive groves, almond orchards, and vast grazing lands. We then arrive on foot at the Linas mountain range, in Gonnosfanadiga, also known as the “city of bread and oil.”

Arrival: Villacidro

A long and challenging stage. You cross majestic holm oak forests of the Linas massif, walking on granite and passing numerous streams, until reaching the lush citrus and cherry orchards of Villa Scema. From the church of Gonnosfanadiga to the chapel of the Perd’e Pibera mine and the ancient church of Villacidro, both dedicated to Saint Barbara, the devotion to the patron saint of miners is strongly felt.
